Michigan eLibrary (MeL)
- Great site to find old newspaper articles, letters to the editor, etc. You will need your Michigan
driver's license number or your library card number. Once you get in, you
can use InfoTrac Custom Newspapers to find almost 900 full text
newspapers from all over the United States and the world. It includes the
New York Times. Most of these papers contain articles back as far as 1980.
And you can use Newsbank Michigan Newspapers to locate articles from
the Detroit News and the Grand Rapids Press. These articles go back to about
the year 2000. Sadly, Lansing State Journal and Detroit Free Press articles
are no longer included. For them, you have to go to their own sites (lsj.com
and freep.com) and search their archives. For free, you get a pretty useless
synopsis of the article. For $3.95, you get the full article.
City Pulse
Lansing State Journal - The LSJ's
Data Connection has links to a long list of stuff like state employee
salaries, state financial reports and census data.
