Report of Officer Stephanie Kennedy

On 01-27-21 at approximately 1155hrs I was dispatched to call victim, Robert Bain, in reference to an attempt B&E.

 

Victim, Robert Bain, stated his basement window damaged. He last new it was not damaged on 01-24-21. Today when he went to the basement he noticed the styrofoam he had in the window was pushed in as well as plastic he had in the window. When he went outside the screen had been ripped away and the glass was missing. He stated no parts of the glass were left in the frame or laying next to the window, the glass was gone.

 

Bain stated he had been having issues with a subject with the last name Kalat. Bain stated his house went into foreclosure and was sold to Mercantile Bank in Sept-Nov 2019. He stated he was aware he had 6 months to redeem the house but due to COVID things were extended until July 2020. He stated he hired an attorney when he found out Mercantile sold the house to Kalat. He stated he had been having problems with Kalat calling him and coming over. In October 2021 he had a Zoom hearing with Judge Ward in reference to a trial for this and she informed him it would be into January before the case was seen. He had not received word on when it would be. He stated his attorney advised him to stay in the house as they had not been provided paperwork from Kalat on an proof he owned the house. Bain stated on the 24th he received a message from Kalat saying he was coming over that weekend to move things out of the garage and then the next week to move things out of the house. Bain stated this was the only person he was having problems with that he could think would try to break into the house.

 

Bain stated he had paperwork with the full name and date of birth of Kalat but he was unable to locate it at this time.

 

DAMAGE PROPERTY: Basement window, glass missing and screen ripped out and missing.
